I received a box of Design Essentials Coconut Monoi products about a month ago. The first thing that struck me was the delicious smell coming from the box! I have been using the products exclusively for the past month. I will give you a review of two of the products.
Overall these products work really great for my short hair. I’ve found that with short hair I now focus quite a bit on styling and I worry less about moisturising and handling. This is because my hair is so short that moisturising is easy to do. I also don’t worry much about breakage. With the hair being so short it hardly ever tangles. What I do worry about though is the style. Because the hair is short I can’t simple pull it into a pony tail and go. When it is not styled it looks messy. Enter the products below!
Coconut Water Curl Refresher
I use this product for exactly what the name suggests – to refresh curls. Since cutting my hair I have been using velcro rollers to set and style it. To prolong the style I will put the rollers in my hair a few nights a week. I spray this product on my hair, making it slightly damp. I then put the rollers on my hair, concentrating on the crown. I sleep with them on my head and remove them the next morning. I find that this spray gives a slight hold and the curls are defined the next day. Though the curls are defined, they are soft. I cannot count the number of times I’ve been asked if I do my hair every morning after using this product.
This product is easy to use because it is the consistency of water and comes in a spray bottle. It also smells delicious.
Deep Moisture Oil Treatment
I use this product in the morning afteri remove rollers (on nights that I sleep with the rollers in my hair). I use this product in the way I would use a serum. It gives my hair an incredible shine. I notice on the bottle that the instructions say it can also be used as a hot oil treatment. I have not yet used it in this way.
As with the other products in the line this treatment smells delicious.
The whole range of Design Essential products is available in South Africa through the distributing company D.E Hair (Pty) Ltd. The prices of the products under the Coconut Monoi banner range from R184 to R196.
